David M. Raab

David M. Raab is President of Client X Client, a software development and management consulting company that helps companies to generate more value per customer.

Mr. Raab writes monthly columns on marketing technology for DM News and DM Review.  He has also published in Bank Marketing, Relationship Marketing ReportTarget Marketing, The Journal of Database Marketing, and elsewhere.  Mr. Raab has addressed conferences in the U.S., Europe and Australia including the National Center for Database Marketing, DAMA Symposium and Wilshire Metadata Conference, Direct Marketing Association, Direct Marketing to Business, Canadian Direct Marketing Operations Conference, Newspaper Association of America, Marketing Operations Management Symposium, Information Management Network and National Convention on Data Driven Marketing (Australia).

Mr. Raab advises major consumer and business marketers on marketing processes, technology and service vendors.  Clients have included AARP Health Care Options, Amtrak, Blue Cross/Blue Shield of North Carolina, Carlson Companies, CIGNA Health Care, Comcast Cellular Communications, Cox Newspapers, Delmarva Power, First Union Bank, The Gap, GTE, IBM, JC Penney Direct Marketing Services, Lowe’s, Monsanto, Nordstrom, Pleasant Company, Rodale Inc., Scholastic Inc., Ste. Michelle Wine Estates, Time Consumer Marketing, Unisys, U.S. Sprint, Vanguard Cellular Systems, Verizon Wireless, Washington Gas Light Company and Williams-Sonoma.  Typical projects involve marketing process analysis, needs definition, vendor selection and customer management system deployment.  Mr. Raab also consults on related issues with industry vendors including service bureaus, software developers and advertising agencies.

Prior to joining Client X Client in 2005, Mr. Raab led the independent consultancy Raab Associates starting in 1987. Corporate positions included Circulation Director of The Runner magazine, Vice President/Business Manager of Parents Magazines and Book Clubs, and Vice President/List Research and Development at the Franklin Mint.  His responsibilities have included marketing management, financial planning, systems development and statistical research.
Mr. Raab holds a bachelor’s degree from Columbia University and MBA from the Harvard Business School.
